We the People want to get along. And guess what? For the most part, we do. We never stopped.
We argue politics, sure — but our core values line up more than the cable news networks would ever admit.
We want to feed our families without selling our souls to a job that’s killing us.
We want our taxes to fix our streets, not fund some senator’s donor’s yacht.
We know we need a strong military — as defense, not as a global subscription war service.
We actually work together all the time, every day, across every political label — liberal, conservative, libertarian, anarchist, whatever — without screaming “traitor” in each other’s faces.
But partisan brainwashing has blinded most people to it. And that’s not an accident.
This isn’t tinfoil-hat territory. I’ve chased plenty of conspiracy theories to their “who benefits” dead end. Most crumble there. This one doesn’t.
The elite benefit. Period.
They get rich selling things. And Americans? We buy more than anyone on Earth. The best salesmen recruit politicians to keep us buying. Politicians usually start out wanting to help, then realize selling us out pays better. Party leaders make sure of it.
Divide us, make us pick a “side,” and suddenly there’s an endless supply of new crap to sell us — books, merch, talking points, outrage subscriptions. They profit while we fight.
Think about this:
A home builder — the person literally putting roofs over our heads — averages $63,000 a year. Bust their ass, maybe they break $100k. But it costs their body, their health, their time with family.
A first-year congressman strolls in at $174,000. Incumbents get more. Their “job” is to represent us. Instead, they spend half their time raising money, a quarter on vacation, and maybe the rest pretending to solve problems they created.
Who’s more valuable? The person building homes? Or the overpaid salesman in a flag pin?
If I compared military pay to a senator’s salary, you’d puke. The people risking their lives make peanuts. The people risking nothing but their donors’ patience get rich.
That’s income inequality. Not your neighbor’s welfare check. Not some single mom’s SNAP card. The real robbery is political — and it’s happening in broad daylight.
You want to fight back? Stop buying what they’re selling. In every sense of the phrase.
