By Christopher Moore
Let’s get one thing straight:
I don’t care if you vote red, blue, purple, or polka-dot plaid—this ain’t about politics.
This is about the fact that we are about to flip the “on” switch for the next generation of civilization…
…and we don’t have enough juice to run it.

Welcome to the Energy Avalanche
Let me paint you a picture.
Right now, we’ve got:
AI models running so hard they make NASA’s moon computers look like Etch-a-Sketches.
5G towers connecting every idiot’s fridge to the internet so it can tell them they’re out of oat milk.
Electric vehicles replacing gas stations with charging stations that pull power straight from a grid built when rotary phones were sexy.
And just around the bend? Quantum computing that’ll make today’s tech look like dial-up AOL.
We’re standing at the edge of a cliff, staring down a future that runs 24/7 on raw voltage—and our grid is built for a simpler time. A time when we thought energy drinks were bad for your heart but coal smoke was just “Tuesday.”

This Is a Math Problem
This isn’t about hugging trees or bowing at the altar of Exxon. This is physics, capacity, and common freakin’ sense.
We’re going to need:
More power than we’ve ever made.
Faster grids than we’ve ever built.
Smarter systems than the people running Congress.
And unless you want brownouts, blackouts, and billion-dollar server farms going dark, we better stop screaming slogans and start flipping switches.

Let’s be adults:
Nuclear? Yes. It’s not the 1970s. The new stuff doesn’t melt down if you sneeze wrong. It’s safe, efficient, and steady.
Solar & Wind? Sure. Throw panels on every rooftop and turbines on every ridgeline. But remember: when the sun ain’t shining and the wind ain’t blowing, you still need backup.
Coal & Natural Gas? Yeah, they’re dirty. But they work. And if the lights go out, you’ll be glad we didn’t send every coal plant to the scrapyard.
Hydro & Geothermal? Underrated. Clean. Reliable. Should be doing more with both.
This is like building a house. You don’t say, “Screw nails, I’m only using screws because nails are bad for the environment.”
You use whatever gets the job done.

Right now, we treat energy like it’s a team sport. Coal means you’re a conservative villain. Solar panels mean you wear patchouli and cry during NPR.
Grow up.
The lights don’t care how you vote. Neither does your server, your fridge, or your Tesla.
This is about keeping modern civilization humming. And that takes everything we’ve got. Not just the solutions that make our chosen echo chamber cheer.
Final Thought
We are not crazy for wanting all options on the table.
We’re crazy if we keep pretending that shouting about it on Twitter is somehow solving it.
The energy revolution is coming fast and hard. Either we prepare for it like grown-ass adults… or we sit in the dark, arguing about whether wind turbines give birds anxiety.
