By Christopher Moore

Let’s get something straight right now:
I love the Constitution. I believe in the system.
What I don’t believe in is the two-headed monster that’s been running this country into the ground for decades — the Republicans and Democrats.

We weren’t supposed to end up like this.
In fact, the Constitution doesn’t say a single damn thing about political parties.
You can comb through the whole thing. You won’t find “bipartisan system,” “Democrat,” “Republican,” or “vote for the color team you hate the least.”

The Constitution sets up a government of checks and balances. It gives us freedom, choice, and representation.
The two-party system?
It gives us division, corruption, and a rigged game where you lose no matter who wins.

Let’s get technical:
The bipartisan system doesn’t technically violate the Constitution.
But it absolutely violates the spirit of the thing.

The framers, especially George Washington, practically begged us not to form political parties.
Washington’s exact words?

“The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, is itself a frightful despotism.”

Translation: Party warfare will destroy us.

What did we do?
We built an entire system of party warfare.

I could write a book about all the times the bipartisan system has failed us, but here’s a fast list:

🚫 Medical Marijuana:
70%+ of Nebraskans supported it. Both parties blocked it. Over and over.

💣 The Iraq War:
Both parties voted for it. Both parties dragged it out long after the public wanted out.

💸 Wall Street Bailouts:
They bailed out billionaires. You got to watch your neighbor’s house get foreclosed.

💰 Campaign Finance:
Americans want the dark money gone. Both parties keep swimming in it.

💉 Healthcare:
Most Americans support a public option. Both parties caved to the insurance companies.

🚔 The War on Drugs:
Public opposition grew for decades. Both parties kept hammering minorities and the poor.

💵 Minimum Wage:
Most people support raising it. They keep it low. Funny how that works.

🗳️ Term Limits:
We want them. They won’t touch it.

⚖️ Abortion Laws:
Most Americans supported Roe. Both parties played the issue for power and donations instead of protecting it in law.

Over and over again, the will of the people gets body-slammed by the two-party system.

Simple.
They rigged the game.

🗳️ Winner-Take-All Elections: Forces people into two camps.

🇺🇸 Electoral College: Makes it impossible for a third party to win.

🚪 Ballot Access Laws: Block third parties from even getting on the ticket.

🎤 Debate Control: Keep third parties off the stage.

🗺️ Gerrymandering: Draw districts to keep themselves in power.

💵 Campaign Cash: Feed the system with corporate money.

📺 Media Bias: Mainstream news shoves “red vs. blue” down your throat.

🏈 Team Sports Politics: Voters now cheer for their party like it’s the Super Bowl.

🏗️ Massive Party Infrastructure: Republicans and Democrats have war chests and armies of volunteers.

😱 Fearmongering: “Vote for us or the other side will destroy America.”

They didn’t win because they earned it.
They won because they built a maze and trapped us inside it.

I don’t want to burn the system.
I want to fix it. I want to fix it so good that both parties lose their minds.

Here’s the constitutional, bulletproof, practical solution:

✅ Ranked-Choice Voting

No more “lesser evil.” Vote for who you actually like without wasting your vote.

✅ Open Primaries

Everyone runs. Top two move on. Party affiliation doesn’t matter.

✅ Remove Party Labels from Ballots

Make people actually learn about candidates instead of voting by color.

✅ Term Limits for Congress

Two terms. You’re done. Go home. Go find a real job.

✅ Ban Party Funding in Federal Elections

Candidates can raise their own money. No party slush funds.

✅ Non-Partisan Redistricting

End gerrymandering. Make the game fair.

✅ Teach Real Civic Education

Stop raising political sheep. Teach kids the Constitution, critical thinking, and how to spot BS.

Final Thought: You’ve Been Lied To

The Republicans aren’t the answer.
The Democrats aren’t the answer.
The Constitution is the answer.

We don’t need new kings.
We need a system where people actually matter again.

If you think voting is just about “beating the other team,” you’ve already lost.
The bipartisan system doesn’t care about you.
They care about winning.

Me?
I care about the system. I care about the people. I care about the Constitution.
Not their version of America. Ours.
